Access PLC S7-300 variables via OPC client.

andri Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello, Now, I'm working on a project where I have to access my PLC variable (Siemens S7-300 CPU 319F-3 PN/DP) by using OPC. In the PC Station, I've installed Simatic.Net as the OPC server. For the client, I have to build it on my own because of some other function which is needed to be implemented and I'm using C++ language to build the OPC client. The problem is I don't know the code for accessing the PLC variables... Could you help me please?

andri Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your reply, I have tried that sample and now I'm modifying it. But, the thing that I'm still confusing about is the address of my PLC's variable. In the sample they use "S7:[DEMO]MB1" as the itemID and it works correctly. I want to do the same for my PLC's variable, but I don't know what is the address of my PLC variable. When I google it, I have some information that I have to import the PLC's variable into my OPC server so I can access it by using "S7:[S7_connection_1]xxxxxxxx".. Is that right? I'm completely lost now

playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	ok in the sample the mb1 stands for memory byte 1 what varible are you looking for mx.x = memory bit mw =memory word md memory double word inputs are iw or ix.x outputs are qw or qx.x then there are data blocks db.dbx.x db.dbw db.dbb db.dbd
