Accessing blocks on IM151-7

Hi,

I have an IM151-7 with master module, and some DI / DO cards. I have added this device on my existing Profibus network with S7 314 PLC and some IM151-1s . I am trying to upload IM151-7 software to PC using PC adapter.

When I connect adapter to master module DP, I cannot establish any connection through accessible nodes. PC adapter signal lights are all off.

When I try to connect adapter to IM151-7 DP, I can see IM151-7 in accessible nodes, along with my other ET200 IM151-1. However, if I try to open blocks, I get message 

"Online connection could not be established.The connection partner is not responding."

In accessible nodes window, in left panel, it is written

Profibus = 7 (waiting)

and in right panel its status is

"Without parameter assignment master."

Anyone can help me with accessing / uploading this IM151-7 station?

Please verify that both LEDs on your PC Adapter are effective;y not turning on.

And please provide us with the part number of the PC Adapter you are using, and what software version you are using to connect to the network.

Normally you shpuld have (at least) 2 LEDs on the Adapter body, one for Power that lights up when the connection is established to the PLC (power is provided to the adapter through the Sub-D 9-pin connector or the USB connection, depending on your model) and an Activity LED that will flash durong data exchanges. Some models include a 3rd LED for Fault signaling.

For example you can examine the LED display meaning for the PC Adaper USB in the attachment below, taken from this manual:

Now, if no LEDs are active, it means that there is no power from the CPU or the USB connection. Your adapter might be defective. Start by checking the cables to the PC and the PLC, and make sure the PG/PC interface is correctly set (there is information on these settings in the proposed manual).

PC adapter (972-0CB20-0XA0), to my opinion is not a problem.

When I connect it to IM151-7 DP (151-7AA13-0AB0) all three indicator lights are ON.

When I connect it to master module DP (138-4HA00-0AB0) all three indicator lights are OFF.

Both units with profibus DP ports are on the same rack (ET200S).

To describe what i am trying to achieve, I have a machine where I have profibus network (Profibus A) with 12 profibus nodes (address 2 (PLC), and addresses 10-20 (IM151-1, IM151-3...))

I am trying to add IM151-7 to this network. IM151-7 has its on Profibus network (Profibus B) with two  more devices, where, I assume, IM151-7 behaves as a master. They are connected on master module DP port.

When I connect PC adapter to IM151-7 DP, where I have connected Profibus A network, in accessible nodes I see 13 nodes (1 x CPU 314, 11 x IM151-1 and 1 x IM151-7). This is correct. However, if I expand IM151-7 node, and try to go to blocks, I cant access it, I receive an error that I mentioned in my first post. If I try the same with node 2 (PLC), I have no problem accessing blocks, which indicates that PC adapter is working correctly.

All nodes are reported as passive, except for the PLC and IM151-7. IM151-7 reports state "waiting", which I assume means that it is configured as I-slave, and is waiting for signal from main PLC. This is what I am trying to figure out, how to start communicating with it, and how to upload its software.

If I try to create a blank project, and try "upload Station to PG", it also cannot connect.

I have drawn network for better understanding. Please not that Profibus A is profibus currently on the machine. To this network I would like to add a system with IM151-7, which also has its own internal profibus B network (connected to master module 

I have found out why I oucld not connect. Profibus B is set as Universal DP/FMS and Profibus A is set as DP.

If  Iset PC adapter to Universal, they I can upload the station. Is there a way I can set this two different profibus networks to comunicate with each other, or I need to change hardfware configuration for 151-7AA13-0AB0 to use DP, and leave Master DP to Universal?
