Accessing SimaticNet OPC server from remote WinCC OPC client

Ganeshraj Posts: 32 Rating: (1)	Hi, I configured SimaticNet OPC server pc and WinCC server PC in same work group. I can share folders and files between them. I followed all the steps to configure DCOM as given in Siemens product support page. But I couldn't access OPC server from wincc opc item manager. In our case, bothSimaticNet OPC and WinCC installed in Windows Server 2008 R2. What should I need to do for accessing simaticnet remotely.

I suggest to have a look in the manual "SIMATIC NET Industrial Communications Commissioning PC Stations - Manual and Quick Start " under http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/13542666.In chapter 4.7 you'll find a configuration guide. For testing you should try to use the OPC Scout on the WinCC Server pc at first (instead of WinCC as OPC client). It would also be helpful to deacitivate the firewalls on both pcs (for testing only). Perhaps the usage of OPC UA could be a option for you? With this mechanism you don't need to make such settings as a DCOM configuration.
