Hello EGenc; This is simply an As-i slave module that combines 4 dgital inputs PNP, 200mA, and 4 digital outputs, 24 VDC 1A. See the attached screenshot, from the Siemens Industrial Mall, and the compact Instructions manual for the module: AS-Interface Module 4I/4O, 16I Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello EGenc; You are right: by itself, this module will do nothing for you. It is, as described, a slave module on an As-i bus, and it needs a master connected to the same bus configured to read/write to the sensors and actuators connected to your slave. (actually, As-i means Actuator/sensor interface). As-i is a low-level network mostly used to connect digital signals on a short (basically 100m) length of specialized cable between a master and 31 or 63 slaves. It is mostly used in machines, conveyor systems, and such, because it is very fast and allows the designer to bring a single cable to connect to all the slaves, instead of running individual pairs or wires to all the sensors and motor controllers in the machine. Have a look at this introductory document on As-i if you want to learn a bit more: AS-Interface - Introduction and Basic Information Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
