Adaptor for AS511 in S5-150

Patt Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I got the ACCON-PG cable which converts 9pin RS232 to 15pin TTY. But the programming port on the AS511 interface module is 25pin. Could anyone please help me wiser with how to adapt 15pin TTY to 25pin on the AS511. I did do some search on the net, knowing that I need to put some power source like +5VDC and 20mA in the circuit but I hope some experts on this forum could make the answer clearer. Simaticus Bronze Member Joined: 1/30/2007 Last visit: 6/3/2022 Posts: 262 Rating: (24)	Hi Patt, to get online via a as511 with a pc-adapter-cable you need not only to adapt the lines, you also need a supply 5V to run the rs232 tty converter electronic included in this cable. 15pin ------25 pin (AS511) ----------- ext. power siupply 6 ------ 19 (RxD) 2 ------ 20 (TxD) 7 ------ 18 (-20mA/R) 9 ------ 21 (+20mA/T) 8,15 ------ 24,25,1 (shield) 14 --------------------------------------------------------------- 5V 12 -------------------------------------------------------------- GND if your pc has usb on board this usb tty cable might help. Patt Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Simaticus, it works !! I jumped around the factory for a couple minutes !! Now I need to focus on modifying some changes in the PLC program of my obsolete Trump TC300W2. Also, I got a fresh document from deltalogic who supplies the ACCON-PG with the adaptor diagram. It works fine as well, so I would like to share it for anyone who faces the same prob as mine. I used rs 232 to TTY 15 pin connector and tried to upload ladder from the CPU set with PC (STEP 5 for Windows software). I adapted Your wiring configuration to convert 15 pin to 25 pin connector. But it failed. Could You suggest me how to find way to connect to the CPU? Thanks - Iman

Maybe somebody knows if on the AS511 is power, or somebody have done some research if the V.24/TTY cable can be powered up from a external source.... The easyest way is to use a aktiv TTY connection, with the cable you have now it is not possible. A PG or a aktiv TTY cable will do the job for sure.

Can I use it for this? Only still need 5V power?
