Addition of OS station

Dear Experts

I have a S7-400 redundant system with which I need to add another operator station. The existing system has a WinCC version 7.0 fro which i will get an upgrade license to V7.3.

I plan on using a Siemens Simatic Industrial PC, but i need a little help in the matter whether I need to add a CP card for communication or whether the Ethernet ports will be able to communicate?

Will I also need to add a redconnect license with it?

are you adding a addtional OS Server or OS Client?

a CP card is required for the follwoing scenarios:

• Communication to a H-System ( Redconnect is also required then for WinCC to SwitchBumpless) so OS Server.
  
• When you need to communicate to more than 8 PLC's ( i could be mistaken) but my inderstadning is the CP cards allow up to 64 PLC connections.

if you are adding a addional OS Client that gets its information from the Server 9 Via Package File). Basic Ethernet connection will work with no problems Onboard or external.

CP card is not required for OS Client.

If you are configuring a Server OS or ES or a Single station, then you need to communicate with the S7400-H PLC over a redundant connection. For a redundant connection, you always require redconnect license. A CP is always recommended in these stations to relieve the PC from the load of communication. Look here and here for more details. You can have one CP1613 if it is connected to both CPUs of PLC via a HUB. Use named connection in WinCC. You may find this link helpful. Use two CPs if you require two redundant connections.

If you are configuring a Client OS, then you need only communicate with the Server OS and the system Ethernet ports will do the job.
