Addressing a PA device through Simatic manager.

Anil Belkery Posts: 52 Rating: (0)	Hi All, I am using a S7-400 CPU with DP-PA link (IM 153-2) and coupler FDC 157, now i have to address some of the PA devices on this link. How can i address these devices through Simatic manager? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Anil B.

You could start by looking at the following PAQ; although it mentions the IM-157 (designation of the old model of DP/PA link), what is said also applies to the IM 153-2: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22729270 Read especially the second section, on using DP/PA links. 2) How to parametrize the individual PA slaves once connected to the Profibus network? This cannot be done through the Step 7 software; you need a special software calledSimaticPDM.to set the instruments up. (tag names, ranges, spans...). Step 7 will allow the PLC to read the actual values and a diagnostic byte for the instruments but not parametrize them. Manual: The Simatic Process Device Manager http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22729270 Manual: PDM v. 6.0 Getting Started http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21406135 When your PA slaves are setup in the Step 7 HWConfig editor, you can connect the PDM software to the profibus network (you will need a Profibus comm. card for this, a CP 5611 (PCI card, for PC) or CP 5512 (for laptop). Then you can do a "lifelist" which will read in all connected PA slaves on the network; you can then enter each one and start setting them up. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Anil Belkery Posts: 52 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your reply, Actually i have to just Address the PA instruments on the link.( not actually looking for the parameterization of the PA devices). I got the info that if i disconnect the DP-PA link from the DP n/w and hook in the PG to the Link with PG-PC interface as profibus and Baud rate of 45.45 i can actually address the PA instruments. Is the procedure mentioned above is correct? is there any alternative solution availble for the same? Regards, Anil
