Addressing bit within variables

You can read bites indirectly. Create a custom function that has two parameters; one if your integer (or byte or whatever) and the other is number of bit you want to read (eg. n). That function does a AND operation between the original integer and with a new integer whose only active bit is n. Then you check if the result is 0 the result and return true or false.

e.g.

func(12, 3)

...

12 = 00001100

00001100 AND 00001000 =00001000 -> true
