Metal Head Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello All, I am having a problem trying to diagnosis a problem with this block. The block is a simatic block AG receive (FC 6). The code is prexisting. I am wanting to pass some info but the block isn't working and I am seeing a 'Error' of "1" on the block. There were problems in the code that I have fixed where the block being sent to didn't match the block being sent. Also, the previous programmer was actually toggling a bit backwards, regardless, the code is fixed and I did Compile everything butI still have an error. I can not find anything in the help menu other when to use this block. Does anyone have an idea or can direct me to some info on this block as far as setting it up?? Thanx in advance!! MetalHead OK, Sorry, it was an ethernet connection. I have the manual and for the area code is 0,10,80B1H. Both DBs that are being used in this application are of the same size, 2 bytes. The description for the error says "designation area too small. What am I missing here? Thanx in advance!! Metalhead

aikona Posts: 487 Rating: (36)	Hi You didn't say if you are using these blocks for profibus or for ethernet,but it does not matter This is a link to the manual for profibus comms, In section 8.4 you can find the explanation and error codes for FC5 and FC6.They should be similar to ethernet Eric

Metal Head Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Sorry about that, I am using the ethernet connection. In the manual, the fault code is 0,1,80B1h with a discriptor as "designation area too small". Both DBs that are used to send and receive are of the same size, 2 bytes. From what I can see, teh block used to send from the other PLC is set up correctly as what I can see i nthe Receive block. What am I missing?? MetalHead

Metal Head Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello All, Has any one got an idea of what i am missing here?? I have used these blocks before with success but this one is stumping me. I keep getting an eror of " designation area too small " but everything is matching up. The AG SEND block on the other PLC is Active but not able to complete the task because the receive is not accepting the data? Can anyone help? The Link Mentioned above gives me the error code but doesn't explain. Thanx MetalHead

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (264)	Metal Head, try to expand recieve area. If it would be bigger than actual no problems would occur. You can find out how many bytes are recieved exactly.
