AG_RECV, AG_SEND, AG_???

I have made an application using TCON, TDISCON, TRECV, TSEND and now I have to change using AG_RECV, AG_SEND but I don't find the equivalent function to TCON and TDISCON. The application shall open port and connect with server (like connect in Telnet-> TCON), then the server sends greeting message (TRECV) and then the app. send login information (TSEND). After completition app. closes communication with TDISCON. What should I use to establish connection and to disconnect, the server itself doesn't call, so app. is client and has to initiate a connection, on opened connection server responds , so after TCON there is immediately TRECV and TSEND to respond. After completiotion of data exchange, app. closes connection with TDISCON.

You won't as they do not exist! TCON, TDISCON, TRECV and TSEND are for use with the PN port. TCON and TDISCON open and close a connection respectively. AG_RECV and AG_SEND are for use with CP343 and CP443. However, the connection management for these CP's is handled differently. The connection is managed via the STEP7 component called NETPRO. This is an application that is started from within Simatic Manager. You select the connection type you want (e.g. TCP, UDP etc.), and alsoselect it the PLC or the partner sets up the connection.

It should be active, since my application requests the connection, therefore the connection is established on plc restart and it will probably miss the greeting message from server as plc program wont start immeditely. Also it is impossible to close connection after done. I see the only possibility is to use on board ethernet controller with TCON,TSEND,TRECV and TDICCON, there is no alternative if I got it?

smiffy Platinum Expert Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 3/10/2025 Posts: 1557 Rating: (540)	The active / passive checkbox will simply mimic the same setting as you are currently using as part of the TCON call (the active_est member of the connection description structure). If you wish to continue using the AS to control the connection instead of using netpro, you can still use TCON and TDISCON with the separate ethernet CP cards (CP343 / CP443). You just set the local_device_id member of the connection description structure to B#16#00. Checkout the online help for TCON for details. If you do choose netpro to manage the connections, then you can still manipulate the connections (e.g. close connection) using AG_CNTRL. However, AG_CNTRL is only available on later firmwares of the CP's.
