AI_Module Ampere Calculation.

Hello Experts,

I  have Analog input module AI 16 x 16 Bit 6ES7 650-8AK70-0AA0 ,

Now i want to calculate total Ampere consumption from Single module during 2-wire connections. I have attached the Datasheet and the Pictures of what i found ,  but i am still not sure how to calculate.

Hello,

Is the current transducer/sensor used in of 4 wire or 2 wire type?
If it is 4 wire type, connect external supply as shown in below figure (Circled in red color below fig)

If the sensor is 2 wire type, connect it as shown in circle (RED color)

Is it 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA? Scale accordingly in PLC logic to define maximum current.

But i think i did not make myself clear with my question ,  I want to know the consumption of Ampere to design my rack and system accordingly.

In the manual it says 

• From backplane bus Max. = 100 mA

• From load voltage L+ (supply current of all connected transducers)   = Typ. 20 mA per connected transducer

What does  this means , and how to calculate from this statements ?  If all of my 16 channels are being used at a time ,  what is the amount of Ampere consumption would be there.

 I think that the ampere consumption will not be given insted of it will show the power consumption

Hi,

I think it very straight forward

100mA from the bus and,

if you are using 2 wire transducer to all input, just multiply that by 16X20mA plus the losses, and that is 3 watts  in 24 volts input is 125mA

100mA +320mA+ 125mA(loss) = 545mA

this is the case when you use all the inputs.

 From backplane bus max current = 100 mA. i.e. when transducer either 4 wire or 2 wire measuring current is thru backplane total 16 AI max current capacity is 100 mA.

When supply current of all 16AI transducers either 4 wire or 2 wire is from L+, max current per transducer is 20mA i.e. total 16AI = 0.32 Amp
