ALARM_8P Error in CPU416, OK in PLCsim

Pondax Posts: 10 Rating: (1)	Hi! I'm calling FB43 (MESSAGE) in an custom made FB. It works perfectly in PLCsim, but returns MSG_STATUS=4 in CPU416. I'm using AUX_PRO1, 2 and 3pointing atbytevariables in OUT area ofcalling FB instance. Any suggestions where to start debugging? Thanx in advance! Data: AS/OS Engineeringv6.1 SP1 FB43 from library BASIS61 CPU416-2XK00-0AB0, firmware v.7 PLCsim v5.3 SP1

Error explanation:
At the initial call·the specified EV_ID was out of the permitted range·formal error in the ANY pointers SD_i·the maximum memory area length the CPU can transfer per SFB 31 has been exceeded

Maybe you didn't connect in right way the EV_ID parameter...

You developed your own FB by SCL or "compiling chart in chart"?
If you did by SCL can you get more information in "PCS7 - Programmin Instruction for Blocks" manuallocated in PCS7 documentation

Pondax Posts: 10 Rating: (1)	Hi! Own FB is created inSTL, EV_ID declared with additional arguments "by the book". My thought was; can one draw any conclusions from the fact that it works in PLCsim, but not in physical CPU? What is handled differently in these? My first idea was there is too muchtransmitted data for a CPU416, but according to formulas given in documentation this should not be the case.

That means if you are developing a H-System and you want test on plcsim...yes...it possible but you'll not test entire H-System functionality (only for example) So, i'm not wondered if something works different from PLCSIM and real CPU . P.S.: make sure you used the right ALARM_8P (400 family and 300 family). If you need more help try to post screenshot show the error, it will make easier help you Regards

Pondax Posts: 10 Rating: (1)	Hi everybody! I found the bug! The custom made FBis an old one, migrated from version to another. AUX_PRO values were connectedas pointersto IN/OUT part of instance. This was allowed in earlier versions, but not in Step7 v5.3. But due to pointer connection the code was formally OK. Apparenly type check is more strict in real CPU than in PLCSim, so the migration tests were also passed. Now I have connected AUX_PRO:s to real OUT variables, and everything works. What made me even more confused was this: Error code 4 indicateserror in AUX_PRO pointers, so at firstI disconnected AUX_PRO:sentirely. Butthe old pointers remained, even afterCPU restart. I had to reconnect AUX_PRO:sto real OUT variables in order to get rid of those faulty pointers, disconnecting was not enough. Huh! I'm on oldfasion STL programmer used to handle instance DB:s as I like: "What the heck, data is data, address is onlya memory offset!" But due to PCS7 attributes things are not that simpleany more. I have to reprogram myself! Sorry for writing extensively, but this was at least for me an extremely good lesson, the hard way!
