jackr Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Does anyone know how to get the number of active alarms, which would be the number of alarms that would currently show up on an Alarm Control, defined as a "Message List". I have an indicator that I programmed to blink whenever a new alarm comes in. It stops blinking whenever the operator goes to the alarm list. However, I want it to stay visible as long as there are alarms which have not gone away. Note that I am not using any form of acknowledgement. Thanks.

I would:- Create a Group Message in the Alarm Logging Editor and assign all my alarms to it. Create a status tag for the Group Message. This status tag uses two bits - one to indicate if any of my alarms are active and the second to indicate if they need acknowledging. You can obviously ignore this second bit as your alarms are not being acknowledged. Use the status tag in a dynamic dialog to indicate on a screen if any of my alarms are active. Hopefully this will do what you require without the need for any scripting ! Regards, Salma

WinCC automatically creates a Group Message for each Message Class and Message Type that you use. It automatically places all alarms assigned to that Type into the corresponding Group. As there is nothing to stop you from just using one Class and Type for all your alarms, it follows that there will be no limitation. Fingers crossed all the same though. Regards, Salma

But, I would like to know if someone of you managed to use a trigger of some kind of the alarm control that triggers whenever there is a new alarm coming in? Without the use of group messages. it seems to me that the alarm control knows about this stuff, but I can't find out if it's possible to get that information out of it. With regards, Ikkezelf
