Alarm Logging and SetTagWait() in C-Script

stew Posts: 60 Rating: (12)	Hi all! I have a project with two variables. One is an error flag (unsigned byte) the other is a string containing a message. When flag is set set to 1 an alarm line is created and the message is displayed in the alarm text. That part works fine as long as I set the variables manually. I have a C-script in which I set those variables once the error occurs: [code] SetTagCharWait("ErrorString","my message"); SetTagByteWait("ErrorFlag",1); [/code] Now the alarm logging displays an error, but with the old contents of the ErrorString variable (not "my message"). If I put a Sleep() between those two lines, it works, but shouldn't the "Wait" return only once the variable was written? A short test showed that a subsequent GetTagChar() returns "my message", but the alarm logging still gets the old value. Any suggestions?

April Posts: 1776 Rating: (95)	Hi, Alarm logging and Taglogging are working asynchronous. Wait is only active for TagLogging. So the sleep functions will be OK April

stew Posts: 60 Rating: (12)	In my current case a long sleep() is okay, since the script can't continue until the error condition is fixed. But how do I assure the sleep is long enough when the script has to run as fast as possible?

So a sleep from min. 2 seconds are necessary. But sleeps in C scripts are very ugly. So my suggestion is to create the message manual. An example how to do this you will find in the FAQ: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/24325381 As message number you can choose the message number which shall created. Michel
