We are on TIA version V16

Around the machine, we have three PC's which are able to run WinCC Runtime Advanced. When we make changes to the HMI screens, we compile the RT and seperately transfer the pdata.fwc it to all three PC's on which we run the specified pdata.fwc

I'm trying to log the alarms from our machine into an Alarm Log, I have the path set to a location on our server on which all three PC's have access to so I think they should be able to write to that specified path. The storage location is a RDB file (A CSV file als doesn't work in this case).

For some reason, it doesn't create a log file so it doesn't log the alarms. I assume that the alarm log "Alarm View" screen has access to the specified path seeing the hourglass isn't there which I think indicates that it's loading the path. The alarms work because they are showing on the other "Alarm View" screen which shows the current active alarms.

The alarm classes I created have the same "log" name as the screen which shows the logs.

EDIT:

I found out that I can log on a local file on the C:\ drive of a PC but not on the server. Is it not possible to log alarms on a server but only as a local file?

I'm able to access the server & create/edit files on the PC on which the RT is running. It just doesn't want to write to it. Is it possible that the path is too long? I tried a shorter path and it still doesn't want to write.

I saved them on their C:\\ drive respectively so it works. The only problem I have left is: I compile the Runtime project to transfer to the PC, everything transfers smoothly without problem but when I refresh the local session (The PLC program is a multiuser project) it restores hardware settings like "Runtime Settings" and "Historical Data" to their original. Any way I can transfer it so it doesn't change when I refresh?
