henno2000 Posts: 177 Rating: (0)	A bit of a simpleton question, but for the purposes of alarm logging, can the tag only be a binary bit? I am wanting to create alarms for tags, that when a set value is reached, a certain alarm will be triggered. The tags have been passed across from OPC from an external application (double float), but when I try to import them, I cannot view them Regards, henno2000

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, You can have bytes, words, and double words as well... For that you have to set the MessageBit parameter in Alarm Logging. As Ikkezelf said, you can use Analog Alarms. To enable them, you must access Tools-> Add Ins... in Alarm Logging, select "Analog Alarm" and "Ok". Best regards, Danielle

I have successfully imported the tags into tag logging, but when I try to perform a similar action in alarm logging, there are no tags to view. The datatypes contained in the folder are 8-bit text Signed 32 bit 64 bit float Regards, henno2000

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, For the floating points you'll have a problem, since those are not supported by Alarm Logging. Floating points have a pre-defined bit structure, so alarm logging can't work with those. Try removing the floating points and import, and tell us what happens. For the other tags you'll still have to configure the MessageBit column. Best regards, Danielle

Regards, henno2000 Hi henno, First of all you must make sure the tag exists in WinCC Explorer. Then you need to make sure that the tag isn't a float. Only then you could import the alarms properly.
