alarm tags - which one to use ?

Looking from HMI perspective one should use doubleword or similar tag. But, looking for PLCs perspective, accessing bit in DB doubleword is really hard .. almost imposible .. Lets start from other end ? .. looking from PLCs end of the problem array of bool is perfect to place your alarms .. its easy to access and you do all with one tag .. BUT .. one can not take array as HMI tag for alarms ? .. pls help me .. what tag do you usually use ? ofc .. opening one tag (like %m2.2) for every alarm is obvious and most anoying choice.

At same time, you can create a output variable with Word format. Work in the FB with bool variables, at end of it convert (copy) the bool variables to the word output variable. Once there is not yet blocks to it (and no other bether alternative), I suggest you mount FC to convert 16 bool to 1 word. Attached is an exemple with a FC (FC2 "Bool to Word"). kosta Advanced Member Joined: 2/17/2008 Last visit: 10/27/2024 Posts: 50 Rating: (4)	yes I actually did that .. well something similar .. i made my fb 'not symbolic' adressable so i managed to copy array of 32 bool into 2 words .. and i used those words as alarm tags . so i have my alarms now as : alarm[0], alarm[1], alarm[2] .. great i tell ya

At I know this question is not yet 100% solved. However, you can athe V11 brings SCL that works with AT commands, or at least use absolute addressing to solve it.
