Hello all,

In the attached JPG is a short list of alarms.
These are configured as ERROR alarm class which needs acknowledgement.

There are 2 ways to acknowledge alarms.. internal and external.
Internal: acknowledge button on the screen.
External: PLC tag.

The rules of engagement follows..


External acknowledgement

-- definition --
<1> "Trigger tag" (JPEG - 1) must be linked to a PLC tag as WORD / INT / UINT.
(This can be internal memory MWxxx or from a DB)

<2> A bit inside the "Trigger tag" is identified as doing the actual triggering.

<3> The "PLC acknowledgement tag" (JPEG - 2) can be set only if <1> is satisfied.

<4> "PLC acknowledgement tag" (JPEG - 2) must be the same tag as in <1>.

<5> A different bit must be identified as in <2>.

<6> "HMI acknowledgement tag" (JPEG - 2) must be linked to a PLC tag as WORD / INT / UINT.

<7> "HMI acknowledgement tag" (JPEG - 2) does not need to be the same tag as <1>.

<8> Defining an alarm as part of an "Alarm group" is optional.

<9> BONUS:
MW100
MB100 MB101

With <1> is MW100 and <2> is 0,
the actual trigger for the alarm is M101.0


-- how it works in run-time --
The actions of the panel can be tested by using the simulator (Online > Simulator). The "with tag simulator" brings up a table where the PLC driven tags can be given values.

[a] Switching ON the bit defined by <1> & <2> triggers the alarm.

[b] Switching ON the bit defined by "PLC acknowledgement tag"
(<4> & <5>) to acknowledge the alarm.

[c] The bit defined by "HMI acknowledgement tag" (<6> & <7>)
switches ON to let the PLC know that the alarm has been acknowledged.

[d] The PLC should reset the bits
"PLC acknowledgement tag" and "HMI acknowledgement tag"

[e] If an alarm of the same alarm group is acknowledged with a button press
(internal acknowledgement), all the alarms of the group is acknowledged.

[f] If an external acknowledgement takes place via the PLC,
other alarms of the same alarm group is unaffected.

[g] Two alarms can not share the same "HMI acknowledgement tag"
or "PLC acknowledgement tag; each must be unique.
