Alarms "discrimination"

razoh Posts: 81 Rating: (0)	Hello all, One of the advantages of PCS7 is that the Alarm logging as we dont need to create alarms one by one. For me that seems ok but.....Is it possible to discriminate alarms and show only the ones I want??? For example: I dont want to display in my incoming alarms list messages like "Module XXX Error Channel Wire Break" And for example If I have to Pumps PC-002 and PC-003 how can I hide the alarms of the pump PC-003 if I dont want to display alarms for PC-002. In general I just want to know how to be selective with the alarms I want to display in the Incoming list. Thanks

There are 2 ways I can think of: 1. Use the alarm hiding concept (PCS7 V7.0 SP1 and higher). 2. Assign the motors to different areas in Plant Hierarchy and enable/disable these areas in the User Administrator (Process Controlling) tied to different logins. For channel driver alarms if you did not include them in any area in the PH, simply assign them to a dummy area in the OS Project Editor (Message Display tab). Regards

CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hi razoh, As well as Phantom75, it's PCS7 Alarm Control Display is fully customizable: open alarm setting schedule (in runtime also) and put filter you want (Area corresponding to OS Area setting in CFC folder "Plant hierarchy", or filter by Event (PC-2 intead PC-3, or just a part of the name for multi selection) and so on) Regards

This disables all the areas. Then re-enable all areas except PLC_Hardware. Regards

Regards Hi, I doesn´t work for me as PLC Hardware is a folder inside an area, then I cannot disable that button in the User Administrator. I am trying to filter the alarms but I have the following problem: We PCS7 creates the alarms, all those alarms that belong to PLC_Hardware folder belong to the alarm class "PLC Process control messages" and I cannot disable all those alarms because there are other messages that also belong to that class and I need to show them in the alarm list. I think it would be good to assign those messages to a different class but I dont know how to do that. Thanks

Go to the FB in the Simatic Manager Block folder, right click on the FB and select Special Object Properties -> Message. Here you can unlock the particular message property (e.g. class) which will remove the gray background from the CFC block Instance Message properties. You can also change the default message class (under Special Object Properties -> Messages). When the CFC instance message properties have not been changed from the default properties (again under Special Object Properties -> Messages) the text will be green in the CFC instance message properties. If the CFC instance message properties have been changed (from the default) it will be shown with black text. Changing the Default Message Properties does not require a Block Update/Import, just an OS Compile. Changing the Lock Properties requires a Block Update/Import. However, you can change message properties (e.g. class, priorty, etc.) from Process Object View (including an export/import to POV).
