Allen Bradley Ethernet IP IGMP Snooping

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 12/23/2024 Posts: 2705 Rating: (320)	Dear Forum, Do have anybody have some experience with Ethernet IP, I have heard that it is without IGMP-snooping not working on a bigger network. All "normal" switches will be flooded. So it is without switches that not have IGMP-snooping like the Scalance X400 not possible to set up a network with about 100 Ethernet IP nodes. Do somebody know if this is true ?

So you need a switch that also doing some VLAN, IGMP-snooping and SNMP.... Wenn a customer will use this it might be a little difficult to program the switches, then is Profinet some easier to use.
