An ASI Network in a Harzadous area. Alcohol Process Automation.

simatic_user Advanced Member Joined: 2/13/2007 Last visit: 8/1/2024 Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Colleagues, One important customer require to implement an ASI Network to control some valves designedwith ASI communication.The product handled is ¨Alcohol¨. The Protection grade required is Class I Divission A, according to NEC 500. The control system is being designed with a S7-300 PLC with some DP/PA links and couplers and a lot ofProfibus PA Instrumentation to handle ¨Alcohol¨ product. (PLC, links and couplers located in no harzadous areas) Is safe to implement an ASI network in this system? What would be our best alternative to connect ASI field devices with a safe mode? ASI Power Supply and DP/ASI transition could be located in no harzadous areas. Thanks in advance, HAZARDOUS AREAS HAZARDOUS AREAS

For example, search for p[roducts under "hazardous" and you will find , only as an example, Peperl+ Fuchs Ex-module VAA-4E2A-G5-N/V2-Ex http://www.as-interface.net/Products/2D7DD30B-55D3-4013-95A8-4E47C0D78871 Others are also available.
