I've got a couple of issues I need help straightened out.

1.) I've got a SM 1231 AI8, 6ES7 231-4HF32-0XB0 which is listed as a 13 bit AI, 12 bits + sign. However, when I go and display the full scale integer value of 10V (configured for +/- 10V) straight from a DC power supply on these inputs, I get a value of about 28000 (with a max of 32767 with over-voltage). Clearly, that's a 15 bit + sign channel to me. Am I missing something?

2.) My big issue is a warning/error I am getting when uploading to the PLC and HMI. It is shown in the attached picture.

"Going online: the HW configuration of the HMI_RT_1 was changed but it was not compiled and loaded yet. The shown diagnostics is possibly inconsistent or wrong."

Looking at the network overview for the PROFINET interface there are some green indicators missing. Instead the icon shows missing diagnostic information.

"No diagnostics data available because the current online configuration differs from the offline configuration data."

I've rebuilt all hardware configurations for both devices. I've rebuilt all software. I've updated firmware to 4.2.1 on the PLC and the HMI is on the latest 14.0 supplied by TIA V14. I've made a completely new blank project using the same hardware and the warning/error remains there as well.

I cannot tell whether it is a hardware problem or a software problem, but I find it very strange that the code in the PLC/HMI isn't simply overwritten by TIA if a discrepancy is found between them.

(Go to Online Access -> your ethernet card -> update accessible devices)

Does your HMI show up with an IP Address?

 Yes, the HMI shows an IP address.

The HMI is at

That is indeed how it works in practice, it's just odd to me since you need 16 bits to represent that whole range. I'm probably just nitpicking here, and there is actually some other scaling going on before I see the Dword value, probably for interoperability between all the AI modules or something.

I'd say it's cleaver. You do not need to bother yourself what is actual AI/AO resolution.

And this is achieved by simple left justifying.

I have done the extended download several times. Pings to the HMI and PLC are all good.

I get the option to "Overwrite if objects exist online?" and I always choose "Overwrite All", but I have never seen the options "Do you want to overwrite existing user administration data of this HMI device?", or "Do you want to overwrite the existing recipe data on this HMI device?".

The same warnings remain after extended download. There is no reason for these warnings to exist that I can see.

Runtime and firmware are version 14.00.00.00_31.1

1. Has the HMI project downloaded successfully?
2. Is the HMI working normally conencted to PLC?
My experience, for Basic Panel, it's normal the messagge "Going online: the HW configuration of the HMI_RT_1 was changed but it was not compiled and loaded yet. The shown diagnostics is possibly inconsistent or wrong." when go online.
In my case, nevertheless this message appreared when go online, the HMI works well without any problem.
