My question is why does the programmer use the SLW command? is that scaling?

Remeber that a shift to the left of 1 bit is the same as multiplying by two, 2 bits is multiplying by 4 etc.. Regards,

The low-order bit (the right-most bit) is replaced by a zero bit and the high-order bit (the left-most bit) is discarded. Example 0110 0001= 97 (10) 1100 0010= 194 (10) good luck

My question is why does the programmer use the SLW command? is that scaling? Hello AmazingAhmed, Yes it could be a scaling technique. and the programmer should shift 3 bits for analog inputs. For S5 Analog Inputs the first three bits of lower order byte are not used for AI reading. Bit 0: Overflow Bit Bit 1: Error Bit Bit 2: Irrelevant bit. And the count value you recieve should be scaled in between 0 - 2047 to represent 0-10V for instance. For S5 Analog Outputs the first four bits of lower order byte are not used.
