Analog Output Settings

silvio_dante Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hi there I am using a S7 1200 1214C AC/DC Relay to control a variable speed drive. I want to use the analog signal board attached (SB 1232) to do this. I have to use a textbox to input the desired speed (because there is inexplicably no slider control in the Step 7 software v10.5). Having reviewed the manual I am still not sure of how to go about this. I understand the use of a Scale and Normalize block will be involved but am unsure of the data types that are applicable here. From my understanding the data type output to the analog output should be an Integer value but what data type should I use for the textbox input?? Thanks in advance J

In this case: 1 - Define the TAG on HMI (for example AW0, as integer) 2 - In the HMI TAG define the linear scale properties (for example: HMI 0-100, PLC 0-27648) 3 - Place the IO field and link to the TAG.

Hello silvio_dante, If you are going to use this Analog value elsewhere in your PLC program, then you can use scale block. If you are using it only once, then the above said ^ is ideal.

silvio_dante Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Still haven't worked this out. I have scaled my input value between 0-32511 even though the manual says to scale between -27648 to 27648 for a voltage output. When the high limit is entered the analog output will go to 9.3V but no higher. Also the analog output only seems to work (kind of) if the digital inputs are activated. This is strange because the digital inputs are not used in my programme. When they are not activated the analog output drops to half it's value. Can anyone explain this?

silvio_dante Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Fixed. The digital and analog inputs weren't connected to the common terminal. Don't understand why this isn't done in the internal circuitry. Thanks Gabriel.
