Android firmware (OS) on PLCs & HMI

I just dreamed that:

Like smart phones & tablets . Why not SIEMENS comes up with a new PLC running android Os ?

Now a days most tablets & smartphones are running android & they are interfaced to only (mostly) to internet . It is very difficult to interface (automate) to devices , household apliances .

I am sure of that if there is a PLC running android, everybody would like to use it. And it may have infinite application areas.

Please post here your ideas , regarding this & what could be the application areas?

It is good also for us also that PLCs are not coming on anroid os. Because u might be knowing that android Os has problem of virus attack. That can slow down system or can do some malfunction.

If PLC come on android then it can do some unwanted function into running process that may create a big accident or a very big process loss if plc is affected by virus.

Right now Plcs are running on firmware which very much safe & healthy os.

So we do not have any problem in process due to virus in this os.

I think that is the big reason why Siemens I not making plus on android Os.

That is not possible as soon as you connect ur pg to plc and if ur ph is affected from viruses and from the same if your transfer the program. It may have possibilities to send virus from pg to plc.

When you say "Android", you are talking specifically by the OS developed by Google. Just take a look at the difficulty companies like Samsung have to adapt it to their hardware, not to mention that old hardware are simply ignored. Galays S3 is not getting OS Updates any longer.

If Siemens was to adopt Android, it would be probably like what Amazon does: take one version and modify it completely and keep its own development. Would you till call it Android? Amazon doesn't.

And for security reasons, maybe also block external software or programs to access the PLC. Programming in external software and downloading it to PLC is the idea behind it?
