dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 3/14/2025 Posts: 12344 Rating: (2707)	Hello MRG; Basically, you will always require a DP master on the bus; mostly, Profibus-DP uses a master-slave communication setup. However, certain slaves, known as I-slaves (Intelligent slaves, basically CPUs configured as DP slaves) can also use 'Direct Data Exchange" with other ordinary slaves on the bus to read and write from their memory areas, while still exchanging data with the DP master. For the communication you can use a unspecific connection. Then you can connect a lot of Ethernet devices. The communication you will realize in plc with the T-blocks(T_SEND,...). Also you can make a communication with a S7-300 CPU (engineered with STEP 7) and S7-1200 CPU (engineered with TIA).
