Archiving a string value

Dear All, 

I am facing a problem with archiving a string value, i need to see it in the run time and also to archive it and export it into an excel file. 

i tried the recipe view but the problem is that each time i  need to press the read data button but the requested is to change the value each time the tag changes in the PLC. 

Please advise how is that possible.

string values need to be archived as an alarm in an alarm log.

If you coose "CSV file (ASCII)" as log file datatype for "Storage location" you can import the file with Excel and save as an excel file without too much of a hassle.

(Create a new alarm class and de-select it in the properties of an alarm view, if you don't want the messages to show up in the alarm view.)
