Are only fixed text list possible in the symbolic IO list in Version 18?

hi All

Just quick reality check because i am self doubting myself.

I don't see a way to load dataset to the symbolic IO to make it dynamic based on some logic.

Would some clever java scripting (i know only basics) not come to the rescue?

This is really basic function - does it really not exist?

The only method I've found was to use a Custom Web Control so that you can pass in a list of options with a script and then monitor the change of the selected option.

I have attached an example but it is not my own work. I can't remember where it came from, maybe a worked example project?
