AS Interface in PG not ready

Could it be really so hard of this kind to make an online connection with S5 PLC and Field PG M3? I really do not believe in the problem and can't believe myself !! I feel myself like an *** trainee! I have been working on it nearly for 3 hours. I have read nearly all the posts, topics and issues about the subject. I have tried everthing. But there is nothing in my hands ! really unbelievable. But despite all, I still want to believe in Siemens. I can get online with my cable with a Field PG M. Every COM parameters are same between two PGs. But according to several topics; other device or software may be using the COM port. Well, OK then! If so, I have uninstalled every suspicious softwares and drivers from the PG !! I have no idea that what is wrong with these two guys (S5 -- PG M3) If there is an experienced contact about this issue, I am waiting for his reply. Regards, KeremKu

One with a COM/TTY port for S5 support, and one with a regular COM Port. If your COM/TTY Port is damaged you could use a USB to TTY Converter Cable. Regards / m.f.g

Kerem Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello, Yes there is windows xp professional sp3 in the PG M3. And when I open the PG, before the windows start screencomes, I seetwo options on the PG. My options are; Windows XP Professional Wİndows XP Professional for STEP5 operation. I select Wİndows XP Professional for STEP5 operation. Best Regards, Kerem

And I can use this serial port with a 25-9 pin converter for connecting other serial devices like barcode readers. But, do you mean that, my COM port on my PG may not be suitable for S5 connection even if I have got one serial port? Do you mean that, because of the fact that my COM port is a regular one (not the COM/TTY one), it is not possible to make a connection with S5? Thanks is advance, Kerem

If you are shure that PG can support S5 and it has a COM/TTY Port, then the TTY Interface may be damaged if you are shure that all your settings are corrcect. I you look at he bottom of yourPG you can see a Part No : 6ES7715-1CC.......... Type the number in the Search Filed of the Forum Site and check if you actually have a PG that supports S5 with a build in TTY Interface. Regards / m.f.g
