Siemens provides a downloadable function for a variable-size DBsorting procedure, but the results are given from lowest to highest value. The code comes with it, so you could study it and modify it, if you are at all familiar with STL; or you couldpossibly transfer the results in your work DB in the order you need. dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 5/27/2023 Posts: 12022 Rating: (2594)	Hello BVV; Whenever yur PLC goes to Stop mode (with a SF LED lit, generally) it is time to look at the Diagnostic Buffer. You will have more formal explanations on it in the Programming with Step 7 v. 5.x manual (chapter on Diagnostics), but here is the short version: Open the HWConfig editor of your project, and go Online with the CPU while in that view. The elements of you configuration will appear with symbols showing their present status. Double-click on the CPU (it should be crossed-out now in the Online view, a sign of malfunction), this will open the Diagnostic Buffer. Depending on the settings the Buffer will hold up to 100 of the last events that were caught by the CPU, including entering Stop mode, and the reasons for it (as far as it can tell). For example, youcould find entries such as "Missing orrequired OBxx"; this will require you to create and download this particular OB that is not available in the CPU memory (it is necessary for the CPU to analyse the present situation). Simply use the Blocks section of the program to create a new OB, and give it the number requested by the buffer entry; then download it to the CPU, no programming required for now. Or youcould be told that an instruction is trying to access a memory address that does not exist in the PLC memory range... Check the addresses shown in the buffer against those in your program. Or... You get the idea. You can save the contents of the Buffer as a text file, and you can post it here for us to examine its contents if you need help analysing it. At the same time, tell us the model of CPU you are using, it could have an impact on our answers. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
