Assigned Tool Locations in Magazine - Heller MCH-250 Siemens 840D

MTU_USA_MH Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I am trying to speed up my process and have configured how I need the tools in the magazine to speed up tool changes (two operations/using some similar tools). But know I want to make it so my operators cant move these tools. Is there a way to make a tool have a fixed location in the tool changer? I have scanned through multiple manuals and cant find anything. Could someone please assist me in this matter. Thanks!

How do you load the tools in the magazine? Your machine is using Tool Management? We need more information in order to help you. Good luck Nit

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	If you want the control to return the tool in the spindle to the location it came from, there are two methods. You can set bit 6 in $TC_TP8 fore each tool to mark the tool as fixed location coding. This setting can be made in the Tool Details screen. It is normally set to Variable, but you can change it to Fixed. You can also set the magazine to fixed location coding. Then, all tools loaded into the magazine will be considered fixed location coded. There is a screen in the tool management setup that lets you make this setting and create a config file, but if you do that and load the file, you will delete all tool data. You can change bit 6 of $TC_MAP3[mag number] using an MDI program. You should read the current value and add 64, then write it back. Both these variables are described in the Function Manual, Tool Management, in Doc on CD. HTH, SteveA
