Sibrand Silver Member Joined: 11/15/2017 Last visit: 3/12/2025 Posts: 78 Rating: (18)	I'm trying to find an easy and efficient way to send process data (about 10 integers) from my CPU to a local PC, connected by ethernet. I've found a few solutions that require some extra functions in the CPU itself, which is not that much of a problem but as i said, easy and efficient. Today i've stumbled upon SIMATIC Process Historian, which seems like the perfect contestant in my search, however it seems like it is not able to get data directly from the PLC, but requires a WINCC client in between? Can anyone tell me if this is true, and if so what would be a suitable solution in my search? Kind regards.

OPC is sometimes a possibility. Regards I've looked into several solutions but haven't found the holy grail so far. I'd rather have as little as possible code in the PLC and more for the PC. Easiest would be to use Excel to generate graphs and save data by batch, i've already done most of the VBA scripting for that based on a method that i couldn't get working so far (TCP file server)

It does not communicate with a PLC itself. It gets the data from WinCC-Servers or WinCC-Singlestation (not from WinCC-Clients) http://w3.siemens.com/mcms/automation-software/en/scada-software/scada-options/ simatic-process-historian/Pages/Default.aspx But you can use a common WinCC-Station (WinCC-Servers or WinCC-Singlestation) for communication with the PLC and log the data. An other possibility is, to write the data via C-script in the Taglogging of WinCC, by using the function "TLGInsertArchivData".
