Hello,

I'm trying to simulate both the PLC S7-1200 and some axis (V90 drive but it should be irrelevant)

I found this thread where a user refers to this video series that describes exactly what I want to do but with a 1500.

Problem is that after setting up "Simulate drive and encoder" under "Basic parameters -> General -> Simulation " of the technology object, if I try to run the simulation the drive does not start.

Under "Commissioning" I can do "Monitor all" and Master control -> "Activate" and everything stays grey (no other interactions are possible in commissioning).

Under "Diagnostics" everything is off.

If I try to check the axis DB I see :
.Simulation.Mode = 1 so it should be active, but
.StatusBits.AxisSimulation = 0
.StatusDrive.CommunicationOK = 0 so it's not simulating

I have Motion Control V7
Tia portal V16 Trial licence on VMware

The S7-1200 Motion does not support simulation on PLC-Sim or any simulation offline.

The simulation flag on the S7-1200 Motion means, that you can simulate with a PLC(which has to be there) the drive and encoder. You need a PLC and then you can simulate your drive and encoder. No real drive or encoder needed here.
