Hello Thomas. Quickly reading through what you have published, I am not sure what you are describing and what the root problem is. I am concerned to see you are zeroing the high speed counter at regular intervals. The problem is that the position where the PLC identifies the 'overflow' is not at the exact moment where the overflow occurs. Worse.. by the time the HSC control block (in OB1) trigger a zero on the counter, the counter has exceeded the count by more than you wanted it to. In real terms, you may aim for 180 count units and get 182 counts. Perhaps this is not a problem. Maybe it is. My designs avoid zeroing the HSC. I use math functions to make a modulo measuring system.. that is a system that works between two limits like 0 and 180. The MOD math instruction is of help here. Since S7-1200 firmware V4.2 there is another option, which I have not tested and is not well documented. You will find the settings in the hardware configuration: It is my understanding that the HSC will work between 0 and 180, back to 0 again. It is best to use the extended HSC control instruction instead of the old version which you use now in OB1. There are more functions available that can help with some actions, like comparing values as you are doing now.
