Best resolution for WinCC

CromptonS Bronze Member Joined: 10/31/2006 Last visit: 9/21/2022 Posts: 134 Rating: (31)	I have found that different size LCD screens generally have only one resolution that is best for them,and they differ from LCD to LCD. So it will depend on which one you have. You will immediately see when the resolution is correct, everything is crisp. This is set via windows-> control panel -> display -> settings.WinCC has the option of resizing your pictures for different resolutions, but I have found that itsometimes doesnt look as good as the original size. As a personal preference I create the pdl's based on the sizescreen and resolution I am using.

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	WinCC can cope with all kind of resolutions. You need to adjust the wincc mimics to suit the resolution of your LCD. Check with your LCD manufacturer what the best resolution is. You are able to change the resolution of your wincc mimics through the properties of each mimic within the graphic designer. with regards, Ikkezelf

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, As Ikkezelf said there's not a best resolution for WinCC. WinCC will handle the resolution you need, whichever it is. However, depending on your basic applications (that is if you have a basic application to develop your systems from), changing the resolution back and forth may take some time, and creating basic applications for each resolution could also be time comsuming. So if that's the case, you could choose a resolution with which most of the LCD's you usually work with can cope, and work with it. Oh... also remember to check if your customer has a different LCD for the engineering station, and if that LCD can handle the resolution you pick. Best regards, Danielle

It depends on many variables, for example how many elements are on your pages,how many static images are on etc.My opinion is that you must adjust your pdl's to the size that your LCDdisplay is set to. If 1440 X 900 is what your LCD displays best then thats the resolution to use. For exampleI use a 22" which best displays at 1680 X 1050, and have adjusted my pdl's accordingly. If you can choose, thenget as big as you can get I suppose, always nice to have lots of space to work with.
