Best way to transfer data between 2 317-2PN/DP's on Ethernet

SimonCasino Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello all, My current project involves my machine to communicate with a master line PLC. They are connected on Ethernet and we need to monitor data between each other for proper control. Looking through the databases I came across instructions using 'TSEND', 'TCON', TRCV' FB's My question is if I have multiple DB's I want to transfer, is it possible to run multiples of these FB's in order to point the data intotheir respectiveDB's? As the example just shows a single transfer of 1459 bytes. Also, are these blocks continuously sending the data? Or do I need to trigger the blocks constantly? Thanks in advance, Simon

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Simon, well, if you want to use the T-Communication you may do that. You can send multiple blocks on one Connection... one after the other. Or you use multiple Connections to send one block on each Connection at the same time, this is up to you. You will have to trigger each send function within your PLC program and the consistency will have to be checked by your program too. Alternatively you may use the, in my mind, easier S7 Communication between the two PLCs, there you can reach up to the max size of a DB for each BSEND/BRECV Call. This will relive you from Connection establishment handling and allows you a Connection configuration that is checked by STEP7. In case of the T-Communication you will have to take care of all that. Personally I would choose S7-Communcation in your case. Best regards J_Bell

SimonCasino Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Finding a S7-Communications example in the database it shows how a BSEND and BRCV work for only one DB. Is there a way to use these functions for multiple DB's? Or do I have to gather all my data into one DB then send it out?

You can either use one DB to transfer all... or you send one DB after the other, you can use the R_ID Parameter for this, so you send the DBs with one B_SEND and one R_ID for each DB, so on the Receive side you have as many B_RECEIVEs as you have DBs and you do not have to careabout anything.
