Andy suggestions how to do ? 0011 (decimal 3) AND 0010 (decimal 2) = 0010 (decimal 2) 0010 (decimal 2) OR 1000 (decimal 8) = 1010 (decimal 10) Thanks Per Olof Let a = 16#0011, a byte ?, which means it is really 16#xxxx0011 Let b = 16#0010, a byte ?, which means it is really 16#xxxx0010 Now we want to and the low nibbles of a and b? nib0_a = 16#0F AND a nib0_b = 16#0F AND b nib_a_and_b = nib0_a AND nib0_b For OR nib_a_or_b = nib0_a OR nib0_b There are probably many ways to do this, but this seems to be easy to explain, to monitor online, and to document.

I know you are not stupid, so I apologize for my quick but overly brief response. If you want just the byte of an INT tag, it is done with the slice: Tag A &B= some INT values. A.b0 = byte 0 of A and let's set it to 16#0011 A.b1 = byte 1 of A and we don't care for this example... B.b0 = byte 0 of B and let's set it to 16#0010 B.b1 = byte 1 of B to use AND and OR functions on the bytes, just and them together and return the byte result Let C = 0 (type BYTE) Let D = 0 (type BYTE) C = A.b0 AND B.b0 => C becomes 16#0011 AND 16#0010, or 16#0010 D = A.b0 OR B.b0 => D becomes 16#0011 OR 16#0010, or 16#0011 Just return yourC & D values.

The noatation number.b0, is says it is not supported by the CPU used (CPU 317-2 PN/DP), is that true ? I'm sorry, the slice access methods only work for the newer s7-1200 & s7-1500 family of PLCs. Probably a better way, but you can assign an intermediate tag to capture the results of something like this. (type = byte) myA0 = int_to_byte(16#00FF AND A) (type = byte) myB0 = int_to_byte(16#00FF AND A) (type = byte) myC = myA0 AND myB0 After it works, you can combine the above int_to_byte() AND int_to_byte() into a single assignment to myC myC = int_to_byte(16#00FF AND A) AND int_to_byte(16#00FF AND A) Less convenient, but don't forget you can also use the shift left/right by 8 bits at a time to move the high byte to the low byte (or the other way around).
