Block call hierarchy not displaying correctly

jasonr Posts: 108 Rating: (2)	Hi, I am trying to learn how to use the PLC program testing features in Step 7 V11. I have created two functions: FC1 and FC2. Both are empty functions written in LAD.FC1 is called from OB1 and FC2 is called from FC1. When I open FC2, turn monitoring on and put the PLC in STOP mode, the call hierarchy of the block at the bottom-right shows just "Main (OB1)", as shown in the attached screenshot.I expected that it would show that FC2 is being called from FC1, which is being called from OB1. jasonr Posts: 108 Rating: (2)	Hi Pegaia, Thank-you for your reply. I created another FC called FC3 in STL and called it from FC2. I added a breakpoint to FC3, which when enabled caused the PLC to switch to HOLD at that point. The call hierarchy for the block was then displayed correctly. Before this, I had simply tried to put the PLC into STOP while monitoring the block. The note at the bottom of this section of the online helpled me to think that this would cause the call hierarchy to be displayed. I now understand what needs to be done for the call hierarchy to be displayed in an STL or SCL block, which is to use a breakpoint. But what about a block created in LAD or FBD? How would the call hierarchy of such a block be displayed? Is it possible to stop program execution at a certain point in a LAD or FBD block? Jason

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 12/5/2023 Posts: 13974 Rating: (2280)	Call an SCL FC that does nothing but return right where you want to break your LAD/FBD. Set your breakpoint on the SCL FC. Then you will see the call hierarchy. Might be another way, but that's simple.
