Block with more than 120 characters

arnoldino Member Joined: 5/21/2008 Last visit: 1/5/2022 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	hi i'm yet trying to send subprograms to a Sinumerik 8 control. short programs, below 120 characters, are working well. but if i try to send longer subprograms, the control raises 274 error:Block with more than 120 characters which i'm wondering, because in the uploaded, shorter programs, there are the * symbols on the end of each line, notifying the LF character. this should mean that it recognises the blocks. am i right? i simply use a text editor and hit ENTER key on my keyboard to separate lines in GCode. what am i doing wrong? regards, arnold

I've had blocks that look good in the editor but is it auto wrap function confusing things. The only other point I could make is maybe the control need LF CR and your editor only adds one of these. The test also is to write a program on the control and output it. Then read the same program back in again. Pee

emil2 Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hi Araldino, In our old Makino A77 I have problem to get out the prog in right format. The rows cames out without LF in notepad. One tip I get for many years ago is to open this mess of data in wordpad. Save the prog and open it in your own editor. Nowyou have gotthe data in right format. If this operation helps you now I dont now but you can try. Good Luck again. emil2

arnoldino Member Joined: 5/21/2008 Last visit: 1/5/2022 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	thank you guys for the suggestions, but unfortunately i'm still trying. i found a nice DNC software, DNC4U, and it could read programs from the control, furthermore it recognises the protocol. it said, after reading a test program, the end of block character is CR/LF. so i was very happy to be able to read from the control, and i thought this program will solve my problems regarding to the sending protocol too. but no. the software has the possibility to choose betwen End Of Block characters (LF, CR, CR/LF, ...), but no one works for larger programs. i totally disapointed. i don't know where to look, to find more information. but i won't give up, i'll try again and again. regards, arnold

arnoldino Member Joined: 5/21/2008 Last visit: 1/5/2022 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	thanks you phgo, this page is amazing. i downloaded the software from that page and i was able to read the largest file from the control with it. and as i looked the recieved content, i saw that it has different End Of Block protocol. it has LF/CR/CR on the end of each line. so the page you suggested, is a little bit different, there it says CR/LF, but the result is wonderfull. i hope i won't have more problems with the communication. thank you guys all the support you gave to me. i appreciate them very much. regards, arnold
