Brake resistance for S110

I think the subject of your question should be holding brake
instead of brake resistance.
Braking resistor (S110 manual - Ch4) is used to convert the
resulting energy from a regenerative
operation into heat, therefore avoid the drive get into fault 
by too high DC link voltage.

For holding brake operation control:
With a S110 drive / PM340 Power module you have 2 options.
 
1st option.
You have the optional Brake Relay 
6SL3252-0BB01 0AA0. S110 manual 7.5.2
 
With this option you set P1215 = 1, Motor Holding brake acc. 
to Sequence control
In Starter, under functions double click on Brake control. 
Select brake configuration on drop down box.
 
2nd option,
You do not have the optional Brake Relay instead you use an 
output on the Control unit to control 
the brake or possible iterposing relay.
You set P1215 = 3,  Motor Holding Brake like sequence control, 
connection via BICO, then you would use
the status bit r899.12 to release the brake via Digital Output 
on the Control Unit.

The brake relay will make your life much easier
