Albenejean Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody, I've bought a Flowmeter from Bronkhorst with a Profibus-DP interface. Unfortunately, I don't manage to make it work. I want tolink itto a computer with a CP5613_A2 inside. PG/PC is set to CP5613_5614(PROFIBUS) and the device is recognized with the diagnostic test (white box at address 10 (and white checked box at address 0)). However, when I launched LifeList, it said that theslave at address 10 is not ready for data exchangeand that it should be reparametrized. I've find a documentation wich shows how to configure the device with Sycon (http://www.bronkhorst.com/files/downloads/manuals_english/917025manual_profibusdp_interface.pdf ), but I only have Siemens software. I have never had such problem, and I'm not really used to Step7. I really need some help to understand what isn't working and how to fix it. Thanks!

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 3/26/2025 Posts: 12344 Rating: (2707)	Hello Albenejean; I just finished looking at your document, it is very generic and the way it deals with the installation and configuring of the flowmeter on Profibus should notcause you a problem using Step 7 as a configurator. And I do not think you need any extra software to communicate with the flowmeter. How did you set the Profibus address for the slave? Did you use the rotary switches shown in the document, or did you use the function SET Slave Address in Step 7 (HWConfig editor, Online, Tools)? What configuration have you set for communications with the master: which parameters have you selected, what addresses have been attributed)? Once the parametrization of the flowmeter was finished, did you save and download the Profibus configuration to the CPU? What cable and connectors are you using to connect the DP ports on the master and slave? Did you setup the terminating resistances (found on the Profibus connectors)on the first and last units on the bus? Let's start with these questions, we can search for more solutions if this does not restart your comms. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

In the past, I've never used Step7. We have our know Profibus DLL, and we communicate directly with it. When a problem ocured, we tested with Simatic PDM... So I'm really knew to Step7. But let me explain what I've done... I have started a new project with Simatic Manager which included a Simatic PC Station. Double Click on Configuration... I' ve add a CP5613A2 in the PC and try to configure it to "Master DP" (Adress 1(???), connected). Then, I add an application (???) to make the Master DP configuration work. Finally, I add the FlowMeter (address 10) to the Master DP Network. And now... I don't know what to do. I've tried severall options. Most of the time, an error occurs saying that It was impossible to estblish a link...

I didn't realize that you had no DP master program (PLC, WinCC) controlling the CP 5613 interface and acting as a Profibus master to your slave. So I suggest you look at the following manual, "SIMATIC NET DP Base Programming Interface for CP 5613/CP 5614", that you can download here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1653531 It will guide you in programming a master interface that will then be able to access your slave and collect data. The C/Delphi interface blocks (dll file)should be on the Simatic Net CD that came with the CP 5613. The software for the CP 5613 is also OPC compliant, so you could develop your own program to access the master functions. Start with the FAQ chapter, it should clear many things up. Albenejean Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi! I have a deep look in the CP5613/5614 SDK and started to develop our own Profibus DP DLL. However, I have an error wich says that the Slave was not found in the database. I don't know much aboutsuch adatabase... 1/ Is this related to the fact that in the application "Setting the PG/PC", under "Slave Diagnostic", it says that no Slave are configured? 2/ Is this related to ldb or xdb files? 3/ How to create the database? I'm really confused with Step 7... For information, I have a PC with a CP5613 card linked directly to the flowmeter... Thanks!

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 3/26/2025 Posts: 12344 Rating: (2707)	Hello Albenejean; Yes, this is related to ldb files (or Step 7 sdb files generated by the Profibus confoigurator included in the HWConfig editor). ldb files contain the slave and data exchange information for inclusion in a DP-master configuration. I remember that under Windows NT we had a program called NCM S7 or NCM PC that would generate tjhe database file. Undfortunately it has been too long since then for me to remember precisely the operation, anfd I cannot locate information in my old files... Step 7 should have the possibility of exporting the sdb files, but I don't remember how a CP 5613 can be setup as a master in HWConfig... I think Com Prpofibus could do the same. Sorry I cannot be more helpful, I hope others here with experience in the SDK can chime in. Daniel Chartier
