BSEND and BRCV can't put type on RD_1 and SD_1

dolbyinside Posts: 106 Rating: (2)	Hi, I am trying to communicate between two PLCsim (S7-400) by using the STEP 7 v5.5. I have done the network configuration and in netpro online mode I can se that the S7-connection (industrial ethernet) is set up. The problem is that I can't add a pointer to the DB which I want to send (BSEND) or to the DB where I want to save the received data (BRCV). In the error status I have a number 4 (decimal representation), number 4 represents an "error in the send area SD_1 involving the data length or the data type or the value 0 is transferred with LEN". So it looks like the problem is in the SD_1 and RD_1, for which I tried to add: P#DB200.DBX0.0 BYTE 8 but I doesn't work, it haven't recognized DB200 by a symbolic name, when I try just add the same DB by using "symbolicNameDB".data1 It recognizes a symbolic name of a DB but It also gives an error status 4, which it should, because it needs an ANY type which I don't know how to add. Is there any other way of adding a ANY pointer to the send DB, beside this one? P#DB200.DBX0.0 BYTE 8 Or the problem is in something else?

Error Code 4 a failure on RD_1 parameter of B_RCV and on SD_1 parameter of B_SEND. Can you show us the call of your blocks by screenshot? Also a screenshot of the relating DB´s would be helpful. regards,

dolbyinside Posts: 106 Rating: (2)	Hi I am in the office and I tried to use real CPUs instead of (S7400)PLCsim. I am using a PLCsim only when I am not in the possesion of real CPUs. So I have a CPU 315-2PN/DP (BSEND) and a CPU 317F-2PN/DP (BRCV). For a Fail safe 317 CPU I have added a F-CALL and a runtime and called the runtime in the OB35, but there is no code inside, it is empty. I did this just because I haven't been able to find another standard CPU. Does the length of the data should be the same on both CPUs? I think it should if I want to receive al the data that has been sent. On the BSEND CPU (315) I have a DB100 in which I have two integers and I want to send them to the BRCV CPU. Every integer has 2 bytes so the length should be 4 (2*2), this is the value I have set up in the BSEND function for LEN parameter. In this case I have a error status 8. Error status 8 means that on the BRCV CPU data area is to small. So on the both CPUs I added parameter LEN to be 1000. After this action on the both CPUs I have an error status 10. dolbyinside Posts: 106 Rating: (2)	I think that the problem is in the RD_1 and SD_1 those parameters should be ANY pointer to the data areas, I think it need to be something like this: P# DB100.DBX0.0. These parameters should be like in the attachment for BSEND function (I downloaded some code examples and all of them had ANY pointers). Attachment BSEND with ANY pointer for SD_1.JPG (366 Downloads)

To add a pointer that points to some data area in the DB, just type P# DBnumber.DBXbyteNumber.bitNumber and add that to the parameter SD_1 and RD_1, which for the DB100 from the beginning of the DB100 should look like this: P# DB100.DBX0.0 so when you write it down you should get this on the SD_1 and RD_1 P#DB100.DBX0.0 DB100.DB_VAR I don't know why but I can add P# DB100.DBX0.0, it turn red and says: "Constant format for data type POINTER does not fit the formal type ANY of the formal parameter SD_1" and in LEN parameter add a data type WORD number, so this number represents the length of the data which will be send, beginning from the pointer area (P#DB100.DBX0.0)?

Use the pointer-format I posted before on both sides ( P#DB100.DBX0.0 BYTE 4) Also ajust the LEN-parameter to this 4 Byte. hope this helps, regards, Attachment BRCV.jpg (392 Downloads)
