Hello pici_c EPROMhandling differs a bitdepending on the on how old or new your Step 5 version is. Since you have a Field PG you should have the Step 5 manual on it (as well as on the CD that came with your PG) and you will find EPROM handling quite well explained in it. Alternatively, search the Service & Suport web for the manual for your version of Step 5. Below is the link for the latest version (V7.2), chapter 18.2 is in the case the one you want to consult. SIMATIC STEP 5 V7.2manual I hope this helps |

Hello again pici_c erase time does dependessentially on two factors: 1.) The power output of your UV lamp in Watt/cm2 2.) The Watt-seconds/cm2 requiredfor erasing. Number 1is something you may know/get of the lamp, number 2 is specified by the EPROM manufacturer. Additional factors such as lamp age, cleanliness of the EPROM window (i.e sticker residue), previous erasing "history" etc. have an effect on the required erase time too. Sounds complicated, doesn't it?, so here's my advise: Erase for at least 30 minutes (this is also the minium timethat must be set for the offical Siemens S5 UV Eraser), but preferably erase for 1 hour (there is no such thing as "over-erasing", I've had S5 EPROM's under UV lamps "accidentally" overnight). Check out this FAQ too which deals with the subject of too short erasing time: After Deletion, EPROM-"blowing" is impossible I hope this helps |

well, I have tried my best to erase the program from EPROM using UV Lamp. But fail to do so. First time I kept EPROM under UV lamp for 90 minutes. In my next attempt I spent a whole night (more than 9 hours) but still the program was existed in that... so, now I conclude that even the UV cant erase the existed program successfully. :/ |

New question published by 1998 is split to a separate thread with the subject Read EPROM memory sub-module by Field PG, 010E:Electrical Fault-sub module. Best regards |
