Button press and hold to change speed

Good morning forum,

Ive just put a guage in my project that is activated by using two buttons to increse or decrese value, its not the best option to have especially if you have to increce the value from 0 to 50 quickish. Is there anyway to hold the button down to increse value instead of pressing it 50 times?

One of the ideas: You can add an IO field to set the value of the button increment and decrement

Another idea: is to set a tag on press and reset it on release or button (in this case the update cycle of the button shall be fast), but you have to do some software programming such that If the tag is set for a certain period the values shall jump with higher value steps each second as example

You can give action on "Press" & "Release" action of object.

 You can simply do it in the programing, you can use CPU clock memory with 1.0 sec pulse and make the action with this button to set a bit before clock memory bit. This should be work.

For incriment Take all in seriase set bit ,clock memory bit,positive pulse edge instruction, add instruction.

Similar take sub instruction for decrease.

Maybe do it in plc software with s_odt

If button is pressed for ex. less than 3sec - increment by 1, if it's pressed over 3 sec - increase by 25 (or max it)

 I agree, this is the best solution, just do it via plc depending on your needs.

Hi Jackcaress.

You can simply use two increment buttons one with 10 steps and the other with 1 step and two decrement buttons with the same steps. This will be more accurate and easy to use.  

I think linking a soft button with time in PLC software will be so tricky with the users.
