Bypassing of spindle axis 840Di

Main spindle is under repairs because of mechanical problem. We would like to carry out servicing of Y axis scal & as such needs to move Y axis. Is it possible to bypass spindle axis & run the machine? If yes, which parameters needs to be modify? Thanks in advance. DEEP.
