Byte allocation for digital and analog I/Os

deepak.samal05 Posts: 65 Rating: (0)	hello sir, i am having a simple question regarding byte allocation for digital and analog modules. In a single slot(from 4 to 11) if i am keeping a digital module maximum 4 bytes of size is available but i i take an analog module in the same slot in place of digital module i can connect upto 8 channels i.e. 8 analog I/O i.e. 16 bytes. So i am finding it contradictory. so please explain me that. [schnippschnapp] other questions are splitted to following threads image table of analog I/Os. does AB controllers or cpu have any image tables for digital and analog I/Os.

The standard harware configuration for digital modules does allow for slot-based addressing for digital modules reserving 4 bytes per module. This is simply because digital modules used to have a maximum of 32 points, all linked to the Input/Output image table (I and Q addresses). Even if you were using an 8-point relay output module, 32 points were reserved by the configurator. But with modern CPUs byte addressing is based on the requirements of each module, or can be changed by the user.[schnippschnapp] Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
