C 230-2-MMC foramt and TOUCH PANEL SHOWS ####

Mothilal Posts: 165 Rating: (25)	dear expert and all I have a problem in simotion c230-2.Ialready took a backup copy of my MMC card during the machine good running condition.Yesterdaymachine is suddenly stopped and plc goes to stop mode and the following points are observed from the plc: 1)BUS1F- red, BUS2F-red,STOP- orange , STOPU - orange. 2)The touch panel (MP277 10') showsthe #### instead of datas. I removed my mmc from the plc anddone the quick format. After quick formation of the card, i copied the good back up copy of MMC (stored in my pc) into my MMCcard.But the same problem is still present. Plc does not go to run mode. The plc andtouch panels are connected in profibus communication. I have checked my profibus connection like shielding andend resistor position. All are good. PLC DP1 portis for"VECTOR CU(two induction motor drives)"and DP2 is for "SERVO CU (4 MC drives ) and TP" by PROFIBUS communication. please let me know whatneed toi check to bring my plc to run mode? and how can i eliminate the ### symbols in touch panel?! thanks Regards mothilal

Have a look to chapter 7.4 Writing, formatting and erasing the Micro Memory Card. Best Regards Manfred

So question remains, how is the mmc formatted and data reloaded. All led's on is most of the time a defect mmc. Regards, Marcjan

Will it support or not?c230-2 V3.1.1 supports what versions of MMC? And pls let me know the correct procedure to format the C230-2 MMC card . (Normally we format MMC from PC using card reader) Regards mothilal

Manfred Experienced Member Joined: 6/22/2006 Last visit: 3/7/2022 Posts: 156 Rating: (17)	Hey Monthilal, The usable memory cards are described in the Simotion compatibility list.This file is located on the SCOUT DVD (SCOUT Addons/1_Important/compatibility) or here http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/18857317 Look to chapter 2.4. The micro memory card can only be formatted by calling the function “Format MEMORY CARD” in Target System – Menu with SIMOTION SCOUT. Therefore you have to be Online with SIMOTION C. The correct procedure is described in the SCOUT Online help: Format MEMORY CARD and overall reset. Use Format MEMORY CARD and overall reset to format the memory card on which you save project data. The memory card must be formatted before it is used for the first time. During formatting, all data on the MEMORY CARD is deleted and a file system is created. An overall reset is performed on the memory card before formatting. Best Regards Manfred
