Cactuses when running faceplate library (V13, SP1, Upd 7, PC Runtime)

Hey!

I am trying to get started with faceplates.

I downloaded an example library for TIA Portal V13 Comfort/Advance here:

When I start the example there are cactuses on the motor-symbol.

Also the motor-window does not appear when I click. I have to change screen and then change back to get the window to appear.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

I was assuming that I am missing some image but it looks fine in the TIA-editor.

Hi Andreas, 

Does your picture is linked to a Tag from the PLC for the display of the motor? If Yes, make sure you update your tag before showing the Faceplate or edit this tag to "Continuous Acquisition" and not "Operation". You see Cactuses because the graphic list has an unknown state...

the example you chose is not exactly the easiest if you're new with faceplates.

I would recommend the following application example:

• "Creating Faceplates with WinCC Runtime Advanced and Comfort Panels"

It has a detailed documentation on how to create faceplates and an example project.

Do you have a special interest in this particular faceplate or do you just want to dissect one to see how it works?

I started the PLCsim and now the cactuses are gone.

How ever, I only get the faceplates to work with pc runtime.

I tried with a TP900 comfort panel but when compiling i get:

"The runtime authorization configured for this object is not available"

I will try the faceplates in the link that H.J. sent to see if they are any different.

EDIT:

I deleted the faceplate from HMI and put a new one in, entered the tags and now it works!

 I am interested in using faceplates for motors and valves in a project.

Mostly to save time and also to make the controls easier to read and so on... all the advantages of faceplates I guess 

I have no problem using the ones I got in the first link execept for when it comes to the comfort panel at the time.

it seems like elements of the faceplate are password protected.

Try deleting all elements connected with user administration.
You can restore them later to your liking. It's just an example anyway.

By the way... depending of your time frame: I think the application example you linked is going to be updated sooner or later. There are Faceplates for WinCC Professional V13 SP1, so I guess the faceplates for WinCC Advanced V13 SP1 will follow.
