Can connect CU 310-2PN with CPU 1513-1 PN?

Good morning!

I'm having problems when I try to connect CU 310-2PN with TIA V15.1. 

The CPU which I'm using is CPU 1513-1 PN 6ES513-1AL02-0AB0. 

I'd like to know which firmware I have to choose on my CPU and if this CPU is able to be connected with this CU.

Hello,

maybe the confusion comes from the fact that the CU310-2 is not implemented in TIA V15.1 - you can just use the GSD file to connect it to your PLC (any version possible). So the CU310-2 is configured with STARTER and in TIA you use the GSD file for communication setting only.

From TIA V16 on you can also handle the CU310-2 as a real Startdrive object in the project.

Well, on TIA V15 I found the CU 310-2PN like on the figure attached on this topic. My doubt is if this CU that I found is the GSD that you were talking.

Continuing trying to integrate this Control Unit on TIA, I selected the Module SERVO, but I don't know which submodule (TELEGRAM) should I select.

I've already worked with Drive G120 and I used Telegram 352, but on S120 I don't know which telegram should I select.

On monday I comissioned the S120 CU310-2PN sucessfully on Starter, but when I came to TIA to integrate it there I got some errors. Unfortunately, I didn't print them and to be honest with you I was so confused.

If you (like me) want to use Telegram 352, select that in Starter, and also in TIA Portal.  Then life gets good.

yes the selection of the telegram depends on what you want to do with the drive. 

E.g. telegram 352 is used for normal speed control of the drive.

But if you want to use for example positioning with EPOS in the drive you would need telegram 111. 

From what I hear I think you can use telegram 352.

As Einstein says it is very important to setup the exact same telegram configuration in Starter AND in your GSD file. 

So if you setup a Servo drive in Starter then also use that module in the GSD. If you selected the drive as Vector then you have to use that module in the GSD. So please check your Starter project and set it up correctly there and then create the GSD file accordingly in TIA. 

Be careful with one thing: By default a Servo drive object does not have a ramp function generator activated - so a speed setpoint change would mean a real jump. For Vector drive objects (like in your G120) the ramp function generator is always active by default. So either enable on your Servo object the function module "extended setpoint channel" or change from Servo to Vector.

Tomorrow I'll be on the plant and I'm gonna try again to put the drive to run with TIA V15. 

Talking about Drive Objects, do I just need the DO SERVO? I mean, the last time I selected DO Control Unit also.

I'm going to attach here the photo that resumes all my doubt. Well, you guys helped me and I can say that I already know which telegrams should I use. The question is: I have to choose just one Drive Object which would be the SERVO DO? Or I need the DO CONTROL UNIT as well. The order that I select them on Tia could give me compilation errors?

It's hard to find a good manual for this my situation, that's why I'm asking.

In my experience, I put the thing I care most about as the first DO.  I get that working.  Then I add the next most important thing, if any, and get that working.

For S120, there are not a lot of reasons to add the CU other than the CU's temperature.  At least, that's been my experience.  If you are using digital IO wired to the CU, you can access it in TIA Portal by adding the CU and making sure the telegram data for the CU includes the digital IO.  Then you can read and write to drive IO directly from TIA Portal and not need the drive to handle it.  At least that's what I've been told, and I seem to recall doing that in the Sinamics beginner training course.

It is really important to have the exact same structure in STARTER and in the GSD.

You need to have the right order of all DOs and within the DOs all the right order of telegram slots.

Using the mentioned script form the link is the safest way.

One thing which sometimes leads to problems:

Please also make sure to have the correct version of the GSD file which fits exactly to the used Firmware version that you are using in your CU.
