Can CP5614 A2 used for communication beetween Simatic Net and S5?

So I've bought a CP5614 A2. You say that it must be done with a CP5611... Will it work with a CP5614 A2 ? How to configure Simatic net OPC server and OPC Scout ? What must be done in S5 program ? But nevertheless the CP 5614 solution will also work, with theneeded 5613 / 5614 Driver. About your other question I would ask what you want to do actually? WhatHardware do youuse yetor plan to use? Franke Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Dear J_Bell, S5 side : IM308-C (Profibus DP master) PC side : CP5614 A2 (Profibus DP slave) I need an OPC server in order to use AIDMAP to see some variable progression in the S5 progam. I have Simatic net. I know the PC must be configured with NetPro (xdb file to import) but I don't know the link type to use. I tried S7 Link ans FDL link, but none worked. What must be the link configuration on the PC side ? Should a specific bloc be called in the PLC ? I join the project I created to configure the link. [;)] The Communication you are about to do is DP, with the IM 308 C as DP Master and the CP 5614 as DP Slave. You do not have to configure a Connection, because DP works without Connections. What you have to do is the following. You will have to create a GSD File for your CP 5614 with all information’s about the IO Configuration by yourself. This has to be add to the Configuration in the PG/PC Panel, I know this is a bit strange, but you can notadd it in STEP7, this is different to the SOFTNET DP Slave Software... there it is a bit easier. Than you can handle theDP Slave in the OPC Server, just as you are used to it for DP Master Systems. Best regards J_Bell

Should I create a GSD file for the CP5614 A2 in the IM308-C configuration ? or a GSD file for the IM308-C in the CP5614 A2 configuration ? Don't I need to create a Step7 project in order to configure the communication ? J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Franke, I am sorry, but DP is not S7 Communication. So you will not see the DB’s, Ms, or IO of the S5, like you are used to with S7 Communication. (It will also not work with the S7 if you use DP Protocol but anyway) You will have to create a GSD File that is used in both systems.A wellon COM PROFIBUS, to configure the IM 308C as on the PC side that configures the CP Slave Interface. The PC Interface has to know how it should look like else wise it can not tell if the Configuration request of the Master is OK and it does not know how to provide the IO Data. The Configuration of the STEP 7 project is only necessary, I think, to enable the OPC Server, so you might create a HW Config with the OPC Server and the CP in it... that’s it. The GSD File has to be entered in the PG/PC Interface Settings. I am sorry, but as far as I know is there no Step by Step explanation for this available yet. Best regards J_Bell

If you want to browse you have to use S7 Protocol, which is not supported by S5, as you see in the FAQ you posted the link to. Q: Otherwise, what should I use in order to be able to configure Simatic Net to "see" Dbs, M and S ? A: There is no way to browse this in the S5. If you want to have access to all DBs, M and IO on the S5 you would have to use Ethernet with CP 1430 and Fetch Write on PC side. I am sorry. Best regards J_Bell
